Reiki, or channeling energy through intention, provides a tranquil experience that aids nervous system regulation. In only one session, you will likely feel
Reduced stress and anxiety

While a single Reiki session is beneficial, many of my clients have reported greater results after 4-6 appointments. Compounding benefits can include better overall sleep, reduction in pain and clarity of mind.

Why Reiki?
Many Reiki Benefits
In addition to being deeply relaxing and restorative, Reiki helps you to feel more connected in mind, body, and spirit, which supports overall well-being. Research continues to come out about the benefits of Reiki, mindfulness and meditation. Visit the Resources page for those links.
Balance and Open Chakras
Reiki works to harmonize the body’s energy centers, known as chakras, which can become imbalanced and lead to various emotional and physical health concerns. During a Reiki session, I will place my hands on your body or above your body (depending on your comfort level) to direct energy properly.
Easily Pairs with Other Modalities
Combine Reiki with vibrational sound therapy, a sound bath or yoga nidra for an immersive experience. You can also add-on the chakra healing mat to increase the benefits of your session for an additional fee. For those who don’t enjoy or feel the benefits of massage, Reiki can be an ideal alternative.

Frequently Asked Reiki Questions
-
Reiki is a gentle energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress relief, and the body’s natural ability to heal by channeling universal life force energy.
Rei means "Universal" and Ki means "life force energy" Its full meaning is "Universal Life Force Energy." Reiki is a Japanese healing practice and a complementary energy therapy grounded in the idea that all things in the universe are made up of energy that circulates around and within living beings.
This practice suggests that any disruptions in this energy flow can lead to health issues. In Reiki, healing energy is believed to come from a universal, all-encompassing source. Practitioners do not use their own personal energy; instead, they act as a conduit or channel, drawing in Universal Life Force Energy and directing it to the recipient to promote balance and natural healing.
-
Most clients experience a sense of warmth or gentle tingling. If you do not feel this it does not mean it is not working or you are doing something wrong. We all feel things differently. There is no wrong way to experience Reiki. It is common to feel a deep sense of peace or even to drift into a deeply meditative or state of light sleep. The effects are often described as feeling "lighter", “more grounded” or "clearer." It is not uncommon to fall asleep or notice twitching and tummy rumbling. That is a good sign, it means your nervous system is working in a good way!
-
Many clients report feeling calmer, more grounded, emotionally supported, and better able to manage everyday stress after ongoing Reiki sessions.
Reiki sessions may help support:
Nervous system regulation
Stress and tension relief
Improved relaxation and sleep
Emotional processing and balance
Mental clarity and focus
A deeper sense of grounding and connection to self

During a Reiki session, your practitioner will place their hands in a series of positions either directly on or slightly above your body. Both approaches are highly effective, and the choice is entirely up to you. Many clients prefer hands-on contact, as it helps them feel a deeper connection to the practice. Please note that I never place my hands on the breast, pelvic, or buttock areas.
For the session, you will remain fully clothed (with the exception of your shoes) while lying on a comfortable treatment table. Before we begin, we will take time to connect so you know exactly what to expect. While resting on the table, you may feel warm or tingling sensations. Involuntary twitching, falling asleep, and stomach grumbling are also incredibly common and completely normal signs of your body relaxing.

An in-studio Reiki session can be 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Longer sessions allow you to experience more than one modality along with Reiki, including vibrational sound therapy, yoga nidra or a sound bath.
-
While a single session can provide some immediate stress relief, a series of 3 to 4 sessions is recommended to address chronic issues or deep emotional blocks. Then you can move to an interval that helps you maintain what was achieved in your first series of sessions. Most choose every 3-4 weeks.
Having regular and consistent sessions can help support relaxation, emotional balance, and overall well-being by giving the body and nervous system consistent time to rest and reset.
Just like other wellness practices, the benefits of Reiki are often most noticeable with consistency over time.
-
Not at all. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any specific beliefs, faith or spiritual practice. It is a gentle energy-based wellness practice that supports deep relaxation and helps encourage the body’s natural ability to restore balance and calm. For some people, Reiki may feel like a spiritual experience or help them feel more connected to themselves, their intuition and their personal beliefs. For others, it may simply be a peaceful, grounding experience that supports relaxation, stress relief and nervous system regulation.
If you have a faith and/or religious practice, Reiki can be a complementary experience that supports your connection to your own beliefs in a way that feels meaningful to you. All beliefs — and no particular belief system — are welcomed and honored at Tri Resonance.
-
Reiki is a complementary therapy. It is designed to work alongside conventional medicine—not replace it—by supporting the body's resilience and mental health during recovery.

From the Reiki Healing Association’s website (link):
“While scientific evidence on Reiki’s efficacy remains mixed, numerous anecdotal accounts and qualitative studies have highlighted its benefits in managing stress, reducing anxiety, and promoting a state of overall wellness.
“A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that participants who received Reiki sessions reported lower levels of stress and anxiety. The calming effect of Reiki could be attributed to the body’s natural relaxation response, which is activated during the session. This response can lower heart rates, reduce muscle tension, and foster a sense of inner peace.”
Additional research studies include:
Anxiety: A 2024 meta-analysis of 824 people found Reiki significantly reduced anxiety, especially after 3-8 sessions. It helped both chronically ill patients AND everyday people dealing with regular stress. PubMed ID: 38872168
Depression/psychological distress: A systematic review of 14 randomized placebo-controlled trials found Reiki consistently outperformed placebo for stress and depression (high-quality evidence) and anxiety (moderate to high evidence) PubMed ID: 35911042
Cancer symptoms during chemotherapy: In a study of 268 cancer patients receiving infusions, a 15-20 min Reiki session during treatment led to clinically significant improvements in pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, and well-being. PubMed ID: 39613272.
Heart disease: A 2024 placebo-controlled trial found that Reiki reduced cortisol levels and anxiety scores in cardiac patients. The no-treatment group actually got MORE stressed over the same period. PubMed ID: 38652801
Rheumatoid arthritis: In a randomized controlled trial of 105 people, Reiki significantly reduced both pain and fatigue in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Both measures dropped to a statistically significant degree. PubMed ID: 35752581

Tri Resonance clients can choose to lie on the chakra mat, also called a Photon Far Infared PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) mat, the entire length of the Reiki or yoga nidra session. Depending on the mat therapies you choose, you may not even notice the mat underneath you at all. It is recommended you wear a white, or a very light colored shirt, so that you can receive the full benefits of the photon light therapy.
-
At Tri Resonance, I offer the Rainbow Chakra Mat - Pro 7 Crystal Chakra Photon Far Infared PEMF - from Healthyline for clients to lie on. This manufacturer is trusted and well reviewed. The mat is registered with the FDA (by the manufacturer) as a medical device. A waiver is required to use the mat.
-
Lying on the crystal mat helps to ground your body. The heat aids in relaxation. The chakra lights help to balance your energy.
It is not painful to lay on the mat. In fact, you likely won’t notice it all.
The red light helps to fight inflammation. Far infrared light therapy (invisible form of light commonly received from sunlight) can temporarily decrease pain, inflammation and stiffness. Negative ion therapy detoxifies.
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy. It works by sending low-frequency magnetic pulses through your body, which stimulate cellular repair, improve circulation, reduce inflammation and support deep recovery-all at a biological level. Together, all of these functions help to enhance the effectiveness of Reiki therapy and meditation. Overall, it’s very relaxing and promotes general well-being.
